Another disappointment ...

Made excellent time today over 400 miles but as dead south and on a very sunny day I have a bright red nose, given the size of my proboscis that is not a good look.

Ought to have been down here a couple of weeks ago, the sunflowers must have been amazing. Now there is field upon field of sad looking sunflower faces all bent in anticipation of the harvester and the great vegetable oil factory in the sky.

Arriving then in St Jean a day early and on a Saturday evening I struggled to find anywhere that had beds in ratios less than 4 to a room. I admit I didn't fancy that tonight and in any event my glowing nose would probably cause a minor revolt amongst those wishing a darkened room.

Disappointed I looked further afield and had to put up with a "boutique style Bed and Breakfast/Chambres d'Hotes"  run by an English couple from East Sussex for not much more.

I'm gutted, as you can imagine, at not having the full pilgrim experience.

To get back on track I wandered into a local - and deserted - Auberge and in my best French think I've ordered a ham and pate salad but the madam has been gone so long I think she's looking for a pig.

Got me wine though before she disappeared so life's good!

Still no friends though, notice a developing trend ....
